Interview With Dennis Thomsen

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

I was working on a another logo for a music related business and this idea popped into my head.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Illustrator CS4.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

This is actually one the few logos that didn’t start out with the regular paper and pen sketching. I was playing around with shapes in Illustrator and this idea popped. It was designed purely in Illustrator.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

The font is Digitall with a few modifications.

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

I wanted a color scheme for the mark that would make it easily recognizable as an equalizer but also work for the crown.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

The first version of the logo was completed in a few days but I have made a few adjustments afterward.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

The hardest part was working out the correct shapes for the equalizer / crown since both should be evident.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

No, I’m really happy with how this turned out.
