Interview With Jim Boyd

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

The client wanted the logo to be modern and contemporary. The inspiration lab is about a host of creative individuals in the scientific, entrepreneurial, educational and artistic fields coming together to enhance lives in the Pittsburgh, Pa region. I though about a “light bulb” or “beam of light” to convey inspiration an
a collaborative idea was forming.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

I did some quick pencil thumbnails then went directly to the computer to start exploring fonts and color ideas.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

The main font is Grover.

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

A light spectrum.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

About 6 hours.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

Keeping it simple, current and picking the right font. That was the biggest challenge.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

I would not change anything or I would not have sent it to be selected.
