Interview With Dirk Leys

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

The hare formed by the letters ‘chalk’ represent speed, quickness and alertness expressing the brand in a hip, fresh manner.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Illustrator (always use Illustrator)

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

I’ll always start out with pen and paper and after a good few sketches I move on to the digital drawing board.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

As you can see, there’s no real font used. The letters came from all different kind of font and were tweaked into the hare.

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

The client asked for a black & white logo.

Q:Do you have any sketches of the logo in the early stages?

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

I’m not really sure anymore, but I guess from start to finish it was about 4 days.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

Bringing the sketch and idea to life in Illustrator.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

Not at all, I think it’s perfect the way it is and it suits the company very well.
