Interview With ANTFM Designs
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
While browsing a Facebook group for guitar effect pedals, I saw a post from a fellow member looking to start a logo contest for his etching brand. After seeing the specs and the title of his company (very unique and strange, and always up for a challenge! haha) I researched what a Yak looks like and wanted to give him vision of this creature. Using the triangle in the background, I added a snow cap to give it a “mountain occult” vibe. Went with a one color design for various uses. Lets hope I win!
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Mainly Illustrator. Used Photoshop to present a mockup.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I started right in Illustrator. I had a few images of a Yak on my second monitor and started creating. Same goes for the unicorn horn.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Bell Gothic Std
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Mostly random. Started with dark brown and just brought it down a little darker but not to look 100 percent black.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
about 2 hours.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
A Yak has so much hair that it was hard to design this logo and stick to my 1 color approach. I think the hair that overlaps the nose shows the depth of how long it actually it is without adding extra strands.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
The etching artist loves it so I am fine with it! I think I would want to change the mountains and do more of a range with a little more detail.
