Interview With Josh Star
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
I wanted to achieve a simple and clear identity. After much pondering, I realized that a minimalistic pictorial symbol would provide a sophisticated professional complexion. It was definitely a case where ‘less is more’. I decided to go with an inverted ’t’ for the symbol. I was also inspired by Swedish magazine designs, which explains the umlaut on the letter ‘ö’.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS 4 and Adobe Photoshop CS 4.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I had a clear idea with what I wanted to achieve, so I started designing it straight on computer.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Haveltica Neu LT Pro and Kontrapunkt
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
I had initially gone with a green theme for the logo, but then I realized it did not mesh well with the other graphical elements on the site. I decided to go for a more subtle colour (white) with grey tones.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
Approximately 2 weeks.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
The biggest challenge was coming up with a logo that was in visual harmony with the rest of the site. Choosing the right colour scheme proved to be a very tedious affair.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I am pretty satisfied with how it turned out.
