Featured LogoInterview With Marco de Obaldia
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
This was a company that my wife started. She is an Occupational Therapist and we were looking for a name for the company. I came up with the name as a playful game of phonetics with the word “therapy”. Once the name “Thera Pea” was chosen, the logo pretty much designed itself.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS3
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I always begin with a rough sketch on paper. Then I move to the computer. For this particular logo, I did a few different sketches, and added a few options requested by my wife.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
MaidstoneScript and Century Gothic
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
This part was easy. Nature chose it for me…
Q:Do you have any sketches of the logo in the early stages?
These are just a few of the tests that I went through before the final logo was approved.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
About two weeks.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Choosing the right font was challenging, but the most difficult part of the process was naming the company itself.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Nothing yet…
