Interview With Lee Lilly
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
A friend contacted me about creating an identity for his new catering business. Roast pork is his specialty, and he wanted a “Harley Davidson” inspired look. I chose the font based on the “Authentic Texas-Style Barbecue” description.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator, is there something else to design logos with?
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I immediately thought of an old western wanted poster look to both the logo and website, and just jumped into Illustrator.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Blackoak.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
I chose the colors based off the stock image I found for the website.
Q:Do you have any sketches of the logo in the early stages?

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
20 Hours.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
I actually just had fun with it. There wasn’t going to be much in the way of payment, so I knew I could do whatever I wanted without any push back from the client.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I think I’d distress the skull more.
