Interview With Steve Kelly
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
Inspired by symbolizing the swirl of cream in a coffee cup, also representing an uppercase ‘S’.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator, every time. You can’t beat vectors!
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
Yeah I did a few sketches first of all, but I had a clear idea of what I wanted to do. I played around with the typography for a while before deciding on the finished version.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Helvetica Black, and Futura Book.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
The cream colour was defined by the interior of the venue. I chose the dark deep green to compliment this.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
About an hour or so, not long. I had a very clear idea of what I wanted.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Deciding on the typography, and the complimentary colour to the existing cream hue.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Nope. I love it.
