Interview With Stuart Thursby
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
This is the personal logo I’ve adopted for use with my freelance design business, incorporating a ligature which uses my initials, S.T.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
My chief program for logos is Illustrator, but here I came up with it in InDesign before exporting to Illustrator for final output.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
The idea came to as I was looking for a logo which would combine my love for typography with something memorable. I remembered the ‘st’ ligature and the idea was born!
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Arno Pro
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Blue is my favourite colour, it was all a matter of finding the right shade!
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
An evening of fine-tuning once I had the initial thought.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
It took me weeks to come up with something that I found memorable, relevant and appealing, so the biggest challenge was everything up to “eureka” moment!
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I don’t think there’s too much I would change, but I definitely aim to apply it in many different situations to explore its compatability!
