Springnet

Interview With Daniel Peplow

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

The idea came about through our strap line: fresh digital.

A unique logo was required to represent the springnet brand as a fresh, modern and dynamic company. The digital movement was captured using the S shaped figure which was formed out of a very abstract approach to a leaf, or even bird like shape, often symbolic of spring, and therefore growth, change and freshness.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

The logo began life as an adaptation of one of several sketches and ideas on paper. The abstract nature of the logo came though many many revisions and adjustments to finally get the balance I was looking for in the mark.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

Ronnia.

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

The use of multiple colours was decided upon given the image we wanted to portray to customers. Each colour block will be mirrored across the site over the individual pages and sub-pages.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

The logo itself was an on-going project from about 2007, the final logo was decided upon in mid-2008

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

Designing a brand image for yourself/company is often the worst type of project to be involved with. It is true that designers are their own worst critics and often strive for that pixel perfection!

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

I have of course had many thoughts about revising the logo, however to pull something apart that works would be to undo the months of time and effort that went into this project. I have noted my desired amendments and will look at implementing these changes in the future, depending on when the company wishes to freshen its image and improve the brand as a whole.
