Interview With Logoholik
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
After initial conversation with really nice people behind skyoflove.org we agreed that heart and wings will be perfect symbolism for the skyoflove.org new identity. I wanted to brake away form traditional heart with wings imagery as I felt it would not stand apart from other similar iconography out there.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator as always.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
As my colleague Mike Erickson once well put: “A pencil is mightier than a mouse.”
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
I found out that my favorite typeface of the year can fit this project as well. Omnes is just perfect for it appearance – both fun/kid alike and also serious. Armin Vit explained it very well at http://new.typographica.org/2007/typeface-reviews/omnes/
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Royal blue/baby blue were obvious choices here, since the heart shape covered the ‘Love’ part pretty well. :)
Q:Do you have any sketches of the logo in the early stages?
There were two initial concepts, but we all agreed that the final, chosen one portrays overall best feeling/balance/message.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
This one was a pure pleasure, the challenge? Would love to see it in action. :)
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
The only thing I would like to see is that this logo changes is at least one kid’s face from sad to happy!
