Interview With Euan Mackenzie

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

The idea came from the companies name and tagline. The tagline is “We go where your hearts take you” and thier name is “silverbox”. I cross-linked four hearts and where they met in the middle formed a silver box.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

Straight to illustrator, although it was developed through a few concepts to get to the final design.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

Gills Sans.

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

The logo was to be charming, yet un-distracting to the photographers work. Light blues seemed to match this.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

As it was the first concept i did it wasn’t a very long process.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

Creating a logo that represented what was wanted: “upscale yet slightly whimsical and full of charm.”

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

No, I am very happy with this one.

My apologies, Euan. I had the first design in my email as the submission but now that you point it out, I remember the correct logo as well. Sorry for the confusion. I’ve got the correct logo displaying now. I’ll leave it Featured for a while longer because of the mix up. ;) It would normally be replaced tomorrow morning with a new design but we’ll leave it up until Monday.

No worries, thanks Deron.

You can take it down whenever you want. In fact, im a little worried about it up just now as this was a competition entry that did not win (an injustice) however im selling it to another photographer i have had as a client.

I’m not sure if it will really affect much how the icon has appeared all over the logo design inspiration websites

Can’t believe it didn’t win the competition. At least you ended up selling it in the end, right?

Just let me know if you need me to remove it from the site for any reason because of the client’s request or something.

I actually got busy last night and forgot to change dates around so a new logo was featured this morning, so I guess we’ll just leave it as is. lol
