Interview With Jackie Powell
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
The client focuses his promotional efforts on social media—driving people to his blog where he highlights projects. What better way to represent a blogging photographer than with a camera icon made out of type? A handwriting font, at that?
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Illustrator.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
The process began with a pen and paper, and a couple of directions were cast aside before landing on this option. I then began combing fonts for the perfect characters to use in building the camera.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
URW Grotesk for the sans serif.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Brown tones are masculine and work well with the client’s photography.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
6 weeks
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Settling down to begin sketching.
