Interview With Mauricio Alanis
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
I mixed together 2 basic concepts:
FIRST, a classic emblematic concept of celebration for their 17 years in the business. This is where the shield., light and bold type comes from.
SECOND, from their maintenance business nature. This company serves industrial establishments by providing repair and maintenance service. I took the wrench symbol from this idea.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Mainly freehand and a bit of illustrator.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I mixed paper, drafts and computer work to achieve this.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Gotham & Bonnes.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
I wanted to preserve the polarity of hot and cold, this is why I have warm and cold hues.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
About 6 weeks.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Blending characters with industrial shapes.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I am very happy with the results just like it is.
