Interview With Jackmancer
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
I was doing research about the brands business category, which is construction. I just released so many construction companies use a house as their logo. Logos should be unique, and 90% of construction logos aren’t in my opinion.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS3.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I made over 50 variations before I touched a computer. I had about 10 I worked out on the computer, with one being a roof. It was basicly a roof in this perspective already, I just made it more simple and abstract. I added the name inside the roof, and not underneath it.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Sansation.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
The company had white vans, so I choose white as a background, to keep things cheaper for them. The iconic colour of a roof is red. I took a bright one to stand out.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
From start to finish, about 20 hours.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Convincing the client (and other people) it’s not a cheap or simple logo. It’s minimalistic and abstract and not everybody appreciates that.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
No, for me, it’s finished. Maybe I will see a potential improvement in the future, which I will try out when the client wants modernized identity, but for now; no.
