Interview With Aemindscape
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
A lot of research! I was looking through pictures of heather hills and just realised that the reflection of 1 hill formed a mouth like look. Adding 2 created the look of lips. Once I got this link I tried to find more, I wanted the purple for the heather of the hills, realised the hills reflectiong could also link with highlands and lowlands from which the whisky was to be blended from. The lucky link what happened was the blocks of ice, I didnt mean for this link to be created but once it did I crafted and crafted so I could have all links working smoothly.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
I used adobe illustrator and Photoshop.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
Started in pencil and a scetch pad, drew alot of different concepts before I reached this one. Once I saw the link I went onto illustrator to get a feel for the marks shape then went onto phoroshop to give the shape a more lip like texture.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
I used Badoni book and bold.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
As I stated before I used purple because of the purple hills of heather links with Scotland.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
Many many hours, I lost count. I know i spent 15 hours in 1 day to give you a perspective! I would estimate around 200 hours.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
The name! Im still not 100% happy with it.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I feel the logo is perfect for the whisky. The only thing I would change is the name if I had to.
