Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
The idea was to combine nature, organic and healthcare into the icon, so in my mind I wanted to create one that could not only be seen as something like a leaf, possibly a flame, but also a human face. All in an abstract form
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
I used to be a Freehand fan, however had to move across to something different a while ago, and that ended up being Illustrator … So I used it for this one as well.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
Normally its a case of putting pen to paper, however with this one I actually ended up straight onto the computer. But that said I did end up with lots of loose and rough ideas on the pasteboard before getting to the final design.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
I used Optima, which I think gave the right balance of softness and elegance to match the icon.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Well the client is focused on natural organic cosmetics and health-care products, so I think it was a clear move to stick to the greens and natural palette.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
I think in total it ended up being a couple of hours after initial ideas and fine tuning.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Mmmm … I think it was trying to bring across natural and organic feel focused on healthcare without creating it to a specific area within that. They wanted an icon that had a somewhat abstract feel …
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Don’t think I would … I spent a while tweaking and playing with colour and typography options, and found this one ended up working the best. And the client liked it :)
