Interview With Blake Martin
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
Through several ideas I knew I needed to encompass fast friendly reliable propane delivery. Eureka, a running man carrying a propane tank.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS4.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
As I usually do, I start on a sketch pad and start from there. With this logo I started in on the computer early since I had a better idea of what I wanted the end result to be.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
I hand drew the fonts within the logo.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Most of the competing propane companies in the area were blue. The client also desired the color green, so that decision was easy. Green also is calming and emits a ‘clean’ feeling/organic feel.
Q:Do you have any sketches of the logo in the early stages?
There were various trials for this mark. The image shows a good progression of the trial to near completion.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
Once sketching started, from start to finish, the mark took approximately 1 week.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
My biggest challenge was coming up with something original. Most of the competition for this company used a flame in their logo. It was hard to think of something that didn’t use a flame initially.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I wouldn’t change a thing, yet.
