Interview With Marco de Obaldia

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

The biggest challenge was coming up with a name for the brand. We decided to use “Piety” which means “Dutiful devotion to God and observance of religious principles”. I used the phonetic spelling of the word and modified it in order to enhance the Christian aspect of the brand.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

I usually begin in paper, but for this one, I started working directly on the computer. It wasn’t long until I had the concept down.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

Century Gothic.

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

I wanted to use a shade of red to symbolize sacrifice, but at the same time I wanted to keep it elegant.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

2 days.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

The biggest challenge of the whole process was coming up with the name. Once we had the name, the logo began shaping itself. It went through a couple of iterations before the final version but nothing too crazy.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

Nada.
