Paramount Hot Tubs

Interview With Gez

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

The name was provided by the client and I thought a crest / crown symbol would represent the business they are in. In the first instance the tag line was going to be more generic, not Hot Tubs, but fitness and leisure. As the client changed to just water based leisure activities the crown / splash seemed even more appropriate.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator – the crown is drawn by hand to ensure it looks great when enlarged. The font was outlined and the P and T tweaked to balance the design.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

Pencil sketches first playing with letter shapes for the typography and then working on the crest / crown /splash concept. Once the concept was finalised I bought a photograph of a splash that best looked crown like and used that as the base of the design.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

Baskerville

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

The client choose the colours, with a selection of colours I presented.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

I presented 20 ideas to the client – 10 days in total with the print and screen artwork.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

Drawing the splash so it will enlarge smoothly.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

No.
