Interview With Justin Garand
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
It was actually for a client of mine that was looking to start his own media company but the project fell through. Since it is my own intellectual property I decided to take the design and re-purpose the logo to something simple and unique so I came up with “Orange.” Since this logo isn’t actually in use at the moment I’d be happy to part with it in the future :) I’m proud to say it will be FEATURED in Iheartlogos Inaugural book.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
All my designs start out with heavy research, rough sketches, typography research and color pallet ideas!
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
The color scheme was the hardest part! I wanted the icon to be simple and memorable but I also wanted to incorporate several shades of orange versus one solid (flat) color.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
Loooong time :)
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Finding the right colors and saturation was definitely the hardest part. I’m extremely nit picky.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
The client to change his mind and continue with starting his company. Overall I enjoyed redesigning the logo, I had a lot of fun and a little more creative freedom!
