Interview With Thomas Bossee
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
This is just something I came up with while lying on my bed struggling to catch some sleep.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
The designing process always takes place in adobe illustrator. After finishing the logo, I drop it into adobe PhotoShop to add the color effects, because PhotoShop handles colors a lot better than Illustrator.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
Well, as the idea popped in my head while being in bed, I took a piece of paper and made a quick sketch. This because otherwise I probably would have forgotten about it in the morning. I started by looking for a proper font that could fit this brand. After deciding which font suited the best, I worked on the kerning, removed some anchor points from some characters to make them more solid oozing, combined some characters to eliminate some waste white space between them and finally created the crown/sparkle who goes with it.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Since the brand stresses the word ‘King’ it was rather obvious to go for the yellow. To give the logo an overall powerful look, I decided to keep things simple but effective with black and white, which can easily be switched (as in negative and positive).
Q:Do you have any sketches of the logo in the early stages?
This was the sketch I made in the middle of the night. The words around it are some brainstorming thoughts that fit with the brand (for example when thinking of a tagline, etc.)
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
A couple of hours.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
I don’t know, it kinda was a straight forward designing process.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Not really, maybe after some comments ;-)
