Interview With Steve Muth
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
Stared at a thumb-drive forever trying to figure out how to render such a thing in an attractive way without overdoing the graphic. Eventually I realized that less is more and came up with this rendition which the client loved.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Illustrator CS4.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
A big ‘ol dry erase board, to pencil and paper, then to the iMac.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Century Gothic reg.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Because of the simplicity of the logo, I wanted a soft blue/green that set off enough contrast without making it scream.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
About 4-5 total hours.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Stop staring at the USB stick. It was taking me in the wrong direction – I was focusing on too much detail.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Nope. As long as the client liked it, I’m happy!
