Interview With Sean O’ Grady

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

I was looking and a few different things on DeviantArt, and my cousin was Using the Mac Version of Word. I really likes the design of the logos that Microsoft had made but I wanted it to be more dark and less 2 dimensional.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Illustrator is the one I use most often and I used it for this current logo.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

I started in Illustrator using the pen tool. I actually came up with thoude logo by mistake. I was just messing around with the Tool, when suddenly really good shapes started to emerge from what I was building.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

Aldo Semibold, Segoe UI, the M was custom made.

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

Looked at photos that friends took on Flickr. I’m Irish and green had to play an important role in the design.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

2-3 hours.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

I think the font that was beside the logo was exterememly hard to choose. There are just so many amazing fonts out there and it was especially difficult just to pick one.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

I may change the description font and the gradient angle on the M.
