Ligne de Mire Consultants

Interview With Franck Juillot

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

This company had an existing logo which started to be outdated. My work was then based on keeping most of the existing ideas and shapes. Mindmapping and sketching really helped me come up with a redesign that was, first coherent to the existing one and second, really conveyed Ligne de Mire’s values, experience, expertise and quality.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

Basic process which I use anytime I work on logo design. First, a complete research on client’s field and competitors. Then a thorough in-depth analysis of the company with the client. I then take this as a base to create a mindmap followed by sketching on paper.

The last step is vectorisation of my sketches and work on details directly through Illustrator.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

The font used is Diavlo. I didn’t create the type for this logo as the company needed a complete font that could be used in many ways (brochures, variations …)

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

Color scheme for the main logo came from the original one. Colors used for variations were decided after discussing which characteristics defined best each expertise.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

The whole process, variations included, took about two weeks.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

My biggest challenge in designing this logo was to convince my client of the slight change occurring on the main shape which was a sharp square. But I could easily explain my strain of thought so everything went out pretty smoothly after.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

I would have liked to have the budget and time to create a unique typography for this company but the results using Diavlo are quite satisfactory.
