Interview With Flogod
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
I was thinking about creating a design that would incorporate the idea of continuous creative thinking. Lightbulb came instantly to mind, but I thought it has always been used so many times that there is no appeal left in the idea. So, I tried to simplify the design and introduced a gear shape to signify continuity which stood for luminance of the bulb, thus symbolizing creativity.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS3.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I started with an initial design idea using a pen and paper. After a number of different approaches, I zeroed in on this one. Once I decided the final design, I reproduced the logo in vector form using Adobe Illustrator.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
The color of gear was going to be yellow clearly from the start. However, I was not sure about the color of the internal ring. After much thought and variations, I decided to color it light blue. The idea was to give contrasting color properties of hot and cold to the two basic symbols in the logo.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
The whole process took around 3 hours.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Not to make the logo look like an overused graphic.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I am fairly satisfied with the design.
