Interview With Euan Mackenzie

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

My brother made me an origami swan with some money in it as a birthday present (a pleasant change from the birthday cards). I wondered what it would be like making text that had the same style as origami folds.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

Started out sketching many ways of making letters of paper folds. Had to try a few with real paper to grasp the concept. Once I felt I had achieved the right effect I took it into illustrator.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

Gills Sans

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

I wanted something calm and soothing to represent class. I felt these light blues conveyed this.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

It was a very long process, once i had the paper folds idea it was just a matter of making it look like letters.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

Creating something that was beautiful as well as a strong.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

Many people have said the K looks a little too much like a C, so maybe i was try and change that.
