Interview With St3lla
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
Julia Creations, is the name under which Julia Demetriou designs her original bead creations and bead patterns. Her logo needed to express the organic process of creating jewelry with seed beads and the elegance of her creations. After a brainstorming session with her, it was clear that seed beads are a big part of what she does and they had to be incorporated in the design. At the same time through, I wanted to avoid the usual route taken for hand made jewelry logos. The client uses a needle and threads the beads to create her work, and we talked about how that can be included in the logo and I ended up with some unimpressive and literal renditions, along with the one you see here. The seed bead “threaded” through the J was an immediate hit with everyone.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I always start with a pencil and paper. I do my research, get inspired and then do a few sketches. Once I am happy that I have some solid ideas, I move to the computer.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
I knew that I wanted the seed bead to pop so the black + accent color combination was not hard to come up with. Choosing the accent color was a different story though! In fact the client uses various accent colors but the blue bead is the one she uses more often.
