Interview With James St Louis
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
The idea came from looking at my initials – JSL.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
The software I used was Illustrator CS6.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
My design process for this was, first sketch till I was satisfied and then moved onto the computer to work the sketches.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
I like to keep it simple and timeless. So, black and white was the way to go on this one.
Q:Do you have any sketches of the logo in the early stages?
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
Ha! It took a while because I couldn’t settle on a particular design! As a designer, it’s tough to create a mark that represents yourself and be totally happy with it.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
The challenge was to see if I could connect the letters JSL together into one symbol.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Again, designers are hard to satisfy. I could pick at it for 1 more week! I wouldn’t change anything… for now.
