Interview With Aline Horta Design

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

This logo was designed for a non-governmental organization, that is located in Ceará, Rio de Janeiro.

In Ceará there is a large numbers of Carnaúba trees, from which the local people are able to extract wood, wax, rubber, within other materials. This makes it an icon of this district, and a reference for people who live there. The logo was based on the shape of the leaf of the carnaúba tree. The logo is vertically directed to pass the concept of growth of the tree.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

The process was all done in Illustrator, through the simplification of the drawing of the leaf, and then a free interpretation of its shape through the use of circles.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

Blue Century.

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

Based on the color of the fauna of the city.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

About two months.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

Deciding what the logo was going to be based on, since there were a lot of atrributed from the local culture that could be explored.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

No, i don’t think so.
