Indie Arsenal

Interview With Eric Nance

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

Indie Arsenal is a networking and collaboration group for independent creatives in Colorado. I wanted to create a logo that would work well online as well as offline on t-shirts, banners, posters and other marketing materials.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator CS4. It’s the primary tool for my logo designs.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

I started with rough sketches on paper, as I do with all my logo projects. Then, I moved to Illustrator for final artwork.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

Futura Bold.

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

There are two color versions, one reversed on a dark red, another that is red and gray. I like the red. It stands out and works well online against the website’s dark blue background.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

Two weeks from start to finish.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

Coming up with a design that would appeal to all types of creatives and work well in a variety of applications.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

No, I’m pretty happy with it. I’m sure it will go through revisions in the future, but for now it works well.
