Interview With Angie Herrera
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
I met with Bob, our client, and really talked to him about his business / work (he’s a handyman/contractor and a talk show host) and how his audience perceived him and if that should change or not. I had also done some research ahead of our meeting based on some brief initial conversations prior and had chosen a couple of styles. This style suited what we were after best.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator on a Mac. :)
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I started with sketches, then more detailed line drawing (using tracing paper and photos Bob provided). From there I moved on to the computer and refined the lines and colors.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
I believe it’s a slightly modified version of CandyScript.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
We went with reality. What I mean is, Bob has a pair of yellow “tape measure” suspenders that he wears quite often, especially on jobs and on the radio show. It was only natural that we include that in the logo since it was clearly part of his brand.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
All things considered, it took about 4-6 weeks.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Getting the characteristics of Bob’s face correct in the illustration. I’m not really a “natural” illustrator, so that was challenging.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Yes, but I’m not saying what or that’ll be the focus of the logo and I definitely want to avoid that. :)

Angie, you did a fantastic job! Every comment I got, once the logo was published, reflected the concepts I asked you to portray, i.e., humor, honesty, expertise. Now, how ‘bout sharing with me what it is you would change, so I can focus on it?
