Interview With Matthew Haeck
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
My old site and logo was too intricate. Like most designers, I think you get excited with new tools then just realize – simpler is usually better.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Illustrator for the vector, then dropped into Photoshop for mocking and rendering.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I was driving along and saw a boxed hospital sign and decided to run with that.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Comfortaa.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Locked down the blue and yellow (what can I say, I’m a UofM fan) then used Kuler to set the complimentry colors.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
A Week (~25 hrs).
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Balancing simple and bold.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
No… but ask me again in a year and I’ll probably have a different answer.
