Interview With Chirstopher Magruder
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
The company’s idea is to provide living “green walls” to cover up the grey concrete look of an urban landscape. Working off this idea, plus the fact that this is a new business, I wanted to visually represent growth and stability with the mark and pair it with a clean corporate typeset to appeal with their high end clients.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Illustrator and PhotoShop, if needed. But to me its important to start off with a nice clean vector image when designing logos. You can always build off it in other programs but a good base is the most valuable part of the process.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
Pencil, paper and then Illustrator.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Gauntlet Classic and Futura BT.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Staying with the “green theme”, I knew that I wanted something natural and fresh looking, while still appealing to their corporate clients.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
A round of sketches and computer comps added with the clients requests the overall logo took a couple days to finalize.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Creativity vs clients requests. They don’t always see eye to eye.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
This is a hard question. Yes and no.
