Interview With Joe Sieben
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
Being a supplier of fitness equipment and routines, Go Fit were really trying to sell health. The heart was an obvious choice to me. I started playing around with check marks inside the heart shape and eventually found myself with this logo.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS4 is what I use for logo design now that I am on a Mac, however previous to this I really enjoyed creating logos using CorelDraw. This one was made with Adobe Illustrator CS2.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I am not much of a sketcher, so I often start off with shapes and tweaking them from there, unless I have a very clear picture in my mind – then I just draw it.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
I forgot as I played with so many, but in mot cases I try to create a custom font or modify an existing one just to help make it more unique. In this case I used a standard font, I just don’t know it.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
The colour scheme chosen was based on the colours of health and activity. My client’s brief was to make it happy and colourful. Red and green contrast each other and make it very bright for a two colour design.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
About 6 hours – not including brain storming.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Time frame. I had to present the logo within 24hrs, and it needed to be ready for the signage and website, so ensuring all colours were replicable across different medium for all the concepts was challenging – well more annoying than anything.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
The invoice amount.
