Interview With Greg Cuellar
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
I was working as an intern for a local TV station, and they were going to be putting on a blood drive. I did some research, and most logos had used a heart, or a drop of blood. I wanted to do something a little different, without going so far out, that no one would understand the logo.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Illustrator.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I didn’t get my time to work on this. I think I designed it in a few hours on my second to last day of work there. There were a lot of loose ends I had to tie up…
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Custom font. I designed the “g” first, and made all the other letters conform to the rules set for the “g”.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
This logo was going on shirts for sure, and I was only allowed 2 colors. Red for blood, and black for contrast.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
A few hours. Maybe 3 at most. There was a fast approaching deadline.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Getting all the letters to look uniform. Also, making the g read as a bag of blood was difficult.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I might trim a little off the tail of the “g”…it’s too close to touching…
