Interview With Blake Martin
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
The house sits on a lot of open land. It sits far off the road which made me feel like the home was out there all alone. The graphic shows the sun setting behind the silhouette of the home.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS4.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
Many sketches and failed vector prequels.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
The font used in the logo is Baskerville.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
The light green is a calming color and a welcoming color; which is important for a service.
Q:Do you have any sketches of the logo in the early stages?
This is a very early stage brain storm logo. I guess you have to get the ugly ones out of the way first.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
Approximately 2 weeks.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
My biggest challenge was implementing typography into the logo without overshadowing the graphic element.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I would probably change the mark all together. It may speak more to my maturity as a designer since the original design but I like icons and simple marks more than typography dependent marks; aside from logotypes, which I love.
