Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
The developer and I decided that we wanted the site to look old fashion and vintage. I decided that I wanted the site to look like an old store front, so the logo should look like some vintage signage. Also, in an attempt to make the branding more unique I decided to do a custom script for the font that reflected an old script that would have been seen on a store window.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I started by doing research on old script styles and what features they had. I then collected some of my favorite examples and referenced them while designing in Illustrator.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
The script was custom made.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
The site is largely black and white or very desaturated tones, so black was a good fit.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
It took me around 4 days. I did an initial design, then would change and adjust that design a bit each following day.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Getting the script to look even and uniform was the biggest challenge. Creating two sides of a letter in Ai while having an even width between them is pretty difficult.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I was actually pretty pleased with the outcome.
