Interview With LukeSF
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
A lighthouse actually helps find the right way for the ships, so I thought of the lighthouse as a guiding symbol for the movie site the I am of which is to help us and guide us in the sea of content and information.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS3.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
Yeah, as always… first came the idea… then some sketches… when the lighthouse took shape, then was thinking of the way to add a movie feel.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Base9 if I remember it right…
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Wanted to make a reserved, somewhat retro feel to emphasize that the site has a feel of a reputable source and not just another start-up.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
From sketching till final adjustment, I guess 5 hrs or so… can’t remember how much coffee breaks were in between :)
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Integrating two notions…
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Maybe I would’ve played more with the font…

Thanks for your comment Darc Vanilla Design. As for font, as I mentioned in the interview, I agree that it can be fine-tuned. Gradient for a beam looks a good idea too, but when designing for a client, no gradients was a requirement. But I guess I will update it for myself and upload elsewhere for comparison. Thanks again for your comment

Thanks for the comments!
@Luke - If you do end up making changes to the concept, feel free to send them to me and I’ll upload them here to this entry in the “sketches” area (which is hidden now since no sketches are present).

I really like the concept, but I find this font unsuitable. Also this light beam could be done with gradient.
I give B+ for the concept ;)
