Interview With Diesel Laws
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
I went for the domain first. I really wanted to create a design for an eco-friendly brand, so I played with the word Eco and found this domain. I left it a couple of days before purchasing as that’s when I know its a domain I should get, and in that time I came up with the idea of leaves on the Z – and it developed from there.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I always start my brands with domains, then, once I have a great domain name, I leave it for a couple of days to see what ideas come to me. I never sketch anything before creating – I tend to just jump in to designing and just keep modifying until that idea (or a better one) comes along.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Modified Century Gothic.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
The domain and colours already associated with ‘eco’ were the best choice for the design.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
About 5 hours.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Getting the depth of the leaves to compliment the flat type-face. Colours helped balance this out.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Nothing at all, I love it.
