Interview With Chopeh

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

Looked into a lot of Danish design and started to build my own typeface based on the principles I saw. Wanted to create something purely type based.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Illustrator.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

Lots and lots of pen and paper.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

Original font :) – I’ll call it the DANZK font or something

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

Needed to be clean and modern, so B/W was chosen. Likely another colour would be introduced to the brand at a later stage, not to the logo though.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

Solid work: 10hours approx.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

Was ensuring legibility within the typeface, whilst still keep it elegant. I didn’t want to end up with an ‘Army’ style stencil effect, more of a ‘you can’t see the lines, but you can feel them’ kind of stencil.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

I’ll be forever poking about with the kerning and weight, but it’s been signed off by the client now – so no touchy!

Great work!

Thanks for posting the link to the whole process! Do you mind if I borrow one of the images of the initial sketch for the entry here on LogoGala?
