Interview With Cameron Dearsley
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
I wanted to create a vintage style “badge” for my logo, I realized most badges follow the same set of rules: round, with a star border. I thought I would try a different approach, inspired by a military rank badge, the CO.DE Logo was born.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
I originally created this in Photoshop (as seen on dribbble), recently I went back and redesigned it in Illustrator then added some texture in Photoshop.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I had some rough sketches that I used to form the basis of the logo; after I had a rough idea of what it looked like I went to Photoshop.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
League Gothic (regular).
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Orange and black go well.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
The original was about 4 hours total, V. 2 about 1 hour.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
I feel that this this logo designed itself.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I am happy with the design thus far, it has been polished quite significantly since its debut on dribbble.
