Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
Both the client and I wanted to have the traditional movie clapper has the main inspiration. From my part, I wanted a simplified symbol without going too abstract. We worked a lot on geometrical forms in order to find the perfect composition.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I always start with the pen and paper. These sketches are very rough and messy, I never show them to clients, but it’s really helpful to start the brainstorming process. I also do a lot of typography tests in order to make a decent selections of fonts.
Once I have chosen around 3 or 4 good ideas, I go on Illustrator and start working on slicker versions of the sketches. I usually present 3 concepts to the clients.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
For the contact’s font I use Solex and for the logo itself I customized the font St Marie Thin.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
It was simple, the client wanted something dynamic, highly visible and something that inspire passion, vision and confidence. I thought immediately of a red gradient.
