Interview With Chopeh
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
I needed a logo for my freelancing side, chopeh. I played about with ideas for a logo for a while and settled pretty early on having my handwriting as a basis for it – the split colours came about whilst getting some artwork printed – the CMYK inks of the printers was very offset, leaving the colours split out and overlayed, whilst it was a deemed a printing mistake I found the look quite interesting and took it from there.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
Starting out in my head for several days, finally got it down onto a notepad, played about with my handwriting until I found something I liked. Redrew it all in Illustrator and made plenty of tweaks to get the look I wanted. Overall a longer process then I spend on other logos, was born over the course of 2 weeks.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
My handwritting :)
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
I do a lot of print stuff, so as mentioned before the CMYK offset was almost a no-brainer when I saw it.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
Took about 2 weeks until I finished it, but solid time just working on the logo – probably seven hrs or so.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
It was representing myself, so my biggest challenge was living up to my own standards and having something I could be happy with and not want to go back and tweak whislt it was done.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Don’t even get me started! I’m not even going to let myself think about that one.
