Interview With Sasha Endoh

Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?

The client wanted a modern and colorful logo. The idea of the brain came from the fact that the product is a learning platform.

Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator CS3.

Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?

I had a clear idea in my head of what the logo should look like so I went straight to the computer.

Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?

This logo uses a modified version of Antipasto font.

Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?

I wanted to use colors that could be found in an illustration from a biology textbook. Then orange, blue and purple used for the brain came from that idea. The darker purple gave the design a modern feel.

Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?

Worked on the logo on and off for a day. Having a concrete idea of the design prior to starting the work really helped to save time.

Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?

The biggest challenge in designing this logo was keeping it simple but interesting. At one point I realized that if I added any other elements to the design it would completely ruin it, so knowing when to “walk away” really helped.

Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?

The one thing I’d like to change is the positioning of the umlaut dots on the “u”.
