Interview With Stuart L. Crawford
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
The symbol itself is a “beacon” that symbolises the idea of lighting the way ahead. The beacon is made from the arrowhead found within the “A” (and in the “y”) rotated 12 times to represent the 12 directors of the company upon initial formation.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe illustrator CS5.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
A lot of conceptual development by way of sketching, brainstorms and moodboards. The transition from paper to digital was fairly straightforward and literal.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Drescher Grotesk (edited).
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Went through a variety of colour options before deciding upon the final red tone.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
The project lasted just over a month in total.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Trying to please everyone!
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Not yet, but development may occur down the line.
