Interview With Yawen Chan
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
After sketching out some ideas that were too complicated I realised the best solution was the simplest one and managed to represent both Australia and Art successfully via a one line sketch.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS4.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I usually do my brainstorming and develop my ideas on paper. When I have something solid in my head from them I will start developing them in either Illustrator or Photoshop.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
I used Aller normal for this logo.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
The full colour spectrum was a no brainer for this logo because of the art supply factor.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
I can’t really remember but I think it was around 2 days from sketches to final
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
The most difficult part was finding a way to represent Australia with some relation to art. I would say that took me a day of brainstorming. Once I found this solution it was free sailing from then on.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
I try not to think about my logos when I’m done or else I will never stop working on them!
