Interview With Stuart L. Crawford
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
Playing with the Greek letter-set, the Lambda took the place of the “A” perfectly.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS5.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
A lot of brainstorming led me to this idea. I was looking at the type on it’s own, but turned the lambda into a logomark that would work on it’s own.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Arno Pro.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
Had played with blues and greys as requested, but this option stood out as having the vivid red tone.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
3-4 hours for the design itself, around a month for the total project.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Defining the idea of “simplifying the complex” typographically.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Nothing. I think it works well.
