Interview With Daniel Keller
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
I thought it must be a fluid-like logo, because the website is all about After Effects and Motiongraphics… I choosed fluid because it refers to motion and like that it can be easily remembered… I also thought about Ae & pal as 2 parts, so like they would be pal’s, so also says the tagline “your After Effects Pal”!
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
I only used Adobe Illustrator CS4.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I started with pen and paper and made a quick sketch, and then started to vectorize it in AI and experimented around with fluid shapes.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
It’s a type-based logo, so there’s no font in the actual logo. but for the tagline I used Aller.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
I took the greyish blue from AfterEffects for the “Ae” part, and choosed a bright orange to balance it out, the client also personally likes orange too, the important part was the blue.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
It took around 3 – 4 days to complete.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
To make it easily memorable for people and visualize the word “motion” into that logo.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
No, I love it exactly how it is.
