Interview With Stuart L. Crawford
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
The fleur-de-lis was existent in the family business so it had to be part of the design, so I created a flower-type pattern using the Eiffel Tower.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS4.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
As always, it starts with a sketch. After brainstorming and doodling I jumped into illustrator to work with concentric shaped patterns that gave the distinct ‘French’ vibe.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
For the typography a customised Bickham Script was used.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
It needed to be feminine, but professional. I selected a range of pinks and skin tones and balanced them across the shape to regain the balance.
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
The total project lasted several weeks, but the creation of the logo as it stands was3-4 hours.
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Combining all the elements that were requested, without overdoing it.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
At the minute, we are both happy with the final design. I can’t see any particular changes that I’d make.
